Frequently Asked Questions

Matt Ensor is a New Zealand AI keynote speaker, AI governance expert, and executive educator who helps organisations adopt AI in practical and responsible ways. He specialises in sectors where accuracy, professional judgement, governance, and trust matter.

What makes your AI keynote different?

Many AI presentations focus on future possibilities. Mine focuses on what organisations are doing today, where AI is delivering real value, where it still fails, and what leaders should do next. Drawing on my work with boards, executives, teams, and professional organisations, audiences leave with practical insights they can apply immediately.

2

Why should we choose you as our AI speaker?

My focus is helping professionals use AI where getting it wrong has real consequences. I work with boards, executives, engineers, health providers, infrastructure organisations, professional services firms, and government organisations to adopt AI in practical and responsible ways. Rather than focusing on technology alone, I help audiences understand where AI creates value, where it fails, and how to maintain appropriate human oversight.

My work includes chairing the AI Forum New Zealand's Generative AI Working Group, facilitating the Institute of Directors' AI Governance Essentials programme, and teaching applied AI as an Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Auckland.

3

Who is your keynote best suited for?

I regularly speak to boards, executive teams, engineering firms, infrastructure organisations, health providers, professional services firms, industry associations, government organisations, and conference audiences. My content is designed for decision-makers and professionals rather than AI specialists.

4

Do you speak to Boards & Directors?

Yes. I regularly deliver AI governance and AI literacy sessions for boards, directors, chief executives, and executive teams. These sessions focus on governance, oversight, risk, accountability, organisational readiness, and the strategic implications of AI.

5

Which industries do you work with most often?

My work is concentrated in sectors where accuracy, professional judgement, governance, and trust matter. This includes engineering, construction, infrastructure, health, professional services, government, education, and industry associations.

6

Do I need to know anything about AI before attending?

No. I explain AI in plain language and assume no technical background. The goal is to help people understand what matters without drowning them in jargon.

7

Do you customise your presentations?

Yes. Every keynote is tailored to the audience, industry, and objectives of the event. I use relevant examples, case studies, and practical use cases that resonate with the people in the room.

8

Will you include live demonstrations?

Yes. Live demonstrations (or pre-recorded) help audiences understand what modern AI tools can actually do, how quickly capabilities are evolving, and where the limitations still exist. They are often one of the most highly rated parts of my presentations.

9

What are the most popular keynote topics?

Popular topics include:

  • Getting Practical with Generative AI

  • AI for Leaders

  • AI Governance and Risk

  • Building AI Capability Across Your Organisation

  • What Every Board Needs to Know About AI

  • How AI Will Transform Professional Work

All topics can be tailored to your industry, audience, and objectives.

10

Are your presentations optimistic or cautious about AI?

Both. AI is creating significant opportunities, but it also introduces new risks. My approach is evidence-based and practical. I focus on where AI adds genuine value, where it does not, and how organisations can adopt it responsibly.

11

What will attendees leave with?

Attendees leave with a clearer understanding of where AI can create value in their organisation, what risks require oversight, and the practical next steps they can take immediately. Every presentation is designed to deliver useful actions rather than simply awareness.

12

Can you run workshops as well as keynotes?

Yes. In addition to conference presentations and keynote speaking engagements, I run executive briefings, board sessions, leadership workshops, and hands-on AI training programmes. These can range from short strategy sessions through to full-day capability-building workshops.

13

How do you address AI risk and governance?

AI creates opportunities, but unmanaged AI is unmanaged risk. I help organisations understand governance, oversight, accountability, security, privacy, and responsible adoption in a practical way. The focus is on enabling value while maintaining appropriate controls.

14

What do conference organisers value most about your presentations?

Conference organisers often tell me they value three things: the content is practical, the demonstrations are current and engaging, and the presentation is tailored to the audience rather than delivered as a generic AI talk. My goal is for attendees to leave with useful ideas they can apply immediately.

15

How do audiences typically respond to your presentations?

Audiences consistently rate my sessions highly because they are practical, engaging, and grounded in real-world examples. Attendees appreciate the live demonstrations, the relevance of the examples, and the balanced discussion of both opportunities and risks.

16

Will attendees be pitched consulting services?

No. My goal is to help your audience succeed whether or not they ever work with me again. I focus on building practical capability and understanding.

17

What audience size can you work with?

From boardrooms and leadership teams through to large conference audiences, industry events, and national conferences.

18

Do you speak outside New Zealand?

Yes. While I am based in Auckland, New Zealand, I regularly present online and can travel for conferences, leadership events, executive briefings, and industry programmes.

19

How far in advance should we book?

The earlier the better, particularly during conference season and for leadership events. Get in touch to discuss availability, audience requirements, and how the session can be tailored to your event!

20

Do you speak about Microsoft Copilot, Claude and other workplace AI tools?

Yes. Many organisations are looking for practical guidance on tools such as Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and AI agents. I help audiences understand where these tools create value, where they require oversight, and how they can be used responsibly. My specialty tools are Copilot and Claude.
